A FLOR Area Rug in Our Living Room

Our FLOR carpet tiles arrived. We debated for a while whether or not to try carpet tiles since they have a reputation for belonging underfoot in soul-sucking cubicles or flourescent-lit retail stores. However, with two small dogs and a propensity for spilling liquids, we decided it was worth taking a chance.

After checking out their site, we visited the showroom on 2nd street. We took home a few free samples to check out the colors against our floor. Then it was just a matter of creating a custom design using our favorite colors.

There were a couple great things about ordering through our lady at the showroom. Shipping was free, and we are welcome to return anything as long as the adhesives haven't been applied.

We opted for a design that included squares cut in half and quarters. You'll see what I mean later.

When unboxing the tiles, I tapped out each and ran my fingers along the edges to free any of the bits loosened by cutting. This made a huge mess, but since the room was already emptied, it was just a matter of vacuuming after stacking all the shaken tiles in the corner.

After that, I used a screenshot of the final design and started the assembly. The lady at FLOR recommended we put everything together without adhesives at first.

Easy, peezy.

Another round of ooching squares and vacuuming and, so far, everything is looking great. The lighter squares help reflect more natural light and brighten the room. The dogs are already grateful to have a softer surface to hang out on. The tiles don't seem to budge at all so we're going to hold off on the adhesives and give it a test run. Of course, the real test will be when we have to clean a tile. :)
